Our
NightWatch's German Shepherd breeding goal & philosophy is
SIMPLE
... we focusing on produce dogs that suit us most yet NEVER discount other quality that
a tropical German Shepherd Dog suppose to have! We breed the working shepherd
with true working ability. The
ability to think and react under stress. We breed our dogs for
assertiveness, steady nerves, temperament, reliability and
incorruptibility together with courage, fighting tenacity and longevity,
most importantly ... the stabilities, likewise ... it applied to our
other working breeds too.
It is our desire to breed the
one with Intelligent, healthy animals that were stable around children, loyal
& protective of the family with the ability to think and distinguish
a threat from a non-threat. We do not believe that a ball crazy
driven animal is necessary for work. On the contrary, the same
animal that lies quietly at the foot of your child's bed should jump to
work when required to do so. A dog who enjoys being with
his family, spending time with them and being useful. Whether
being useful is doing obedience work or working as a security service
dog, or as a leader dog for the blind, he/she is actively working.
Being working closely with our associates
for Defend & Protection
Work Training Program and am not in anyway nor will ever be involved in
sports, thus, we evaluate a breed in its ability to perform REAL work.
Protecting our families is our sole motive, and when we think about
this, we must not make any mistake in our selection. The dog must
have the natural ability to protect, or he will not be served food in
our kennel, or even have no place in our kennel at all. The
initial testing is just beginning, dogs will need to be assigned to
perform in real situation before "qualify" to be bred.
We believe a dedicated breeder can only hope to improve his chosen
breed by knowing his dogs, by raising them, by working with them and to
have them into real works,
generation after generation. Occasionally we will introduce a new
dog into our breeding program, to diversify and improve our genetic
resources. This dog is chosen based on his/her performance, not
his country of origin, nor his pedigree. We don't just breed
working dogs, we work them!
Next come to a point in our breeding program, most people
overvalue the importance of stud dogs, but we look to them for half or
to be more accurate ~ 35% toward the genetic makeup and very little
else. The mother of the puppies is the one who has the most impact
on the whelps, and this socialization is very important. We
believe the females are responsible for 65% of the genetic traits of the
future puppy, it is important that they are of the highest quality.
As Peggy Adams (a renowned Dobermans Breeder) once said
"A good stud dog is worth it's weight in gold - but a good brood
bitch is a pearl beyond price".
We do not breed to
titles, nor do we feel a titled dog necessarily makes a good breeding
prospect. Our
puppies are whelped in close to nature environments, and we believe in culling our litters.
We believe very strongly in "survival of the fittest" and
allow nature to cull the weak. We will not put forth a mediocre
puppy with the hopes he will get better, but only offer the best. This
is not a business that we live off but rather one that results from our
love of the breed and our attempt to maintain what we consider to be the
best dog in the world. This is our passion, our hobby, and our
attempt to keep within Max Von Stephanitz's ideal of the perfect dog as
he had quoted as below:
"Do
Right and Fear No One"
